The sewer system works by collecting wastewater from homes, businesses, and industries through a network of underground pipes. This wastewater flows through the pipes by gravity or with the help of pumps to a treatment plant. At the treatment plant, the wastewater undergoes a series of processes to remove contaminants and pollutants before being discharged back into the environment. The treated water is then released into rivers, lakes, or oceans, while solid waste is processed separately for disposal. **
